Sugarloaf Dining Guide

Winter in Maine means escaping to the slopes for us. We so enjoy our ‘Apres Ski’ time just as much as our time on the slopes! We love visiting our local Maine ski resorts and both the village and on mountain dining options at Sugarloaf make a trip to the Carrabassett Valley shine! On a recent trip up to #TheLoaf, we put together this dining guide:

The Eighty 8 Donut Cafe:

You may recognize the Eighty 8 name from their food truck often found on Portland’s Eastern Prom in the summer. Their permanent slopeside shop in the Base Lodge serves up yummy bite sized made to order donuts. Not to mention, they also serve Tandem Coffee! Grab a box of mini donuts for the whole fam and a hot cup of coffee and enjoy these sweet treats around the fireplace after a day on the slopes!

Shipyard Brew Haus:

Ski down past the village beneath the Sawduster lift and make your way to the Sugarloaf Inn, where you’ll find the Shipyard Brew Haus. They’ve got you covered for breakfast, lunch and dinner with in season hours 7am-9pm everyday. We love stopping by mid afternoon for some beers (draft Finder IPA, please!) and apps and also for dinner to take advantage of their not to be missed weekly specials including $12 Burger and Beer Mondays! They’ve got a great outside patio area for full outdoor dining as well.

Bullwinkle’s Bistro:

This ski in / ski out spot is located on the Windrow Trail. We love to stop at Bullwinkle’s on our way down the mountain right after they open at 11am for their famous Bloody Marys! They are currently offering outdoor seating to sit and have a drink ordered inside (some days there is an outdoor bar window open, but not always). Otherwise, the full menu including all food is available for dine in. We stayed for lunch one day and had their avocado fries - a must try!

D’Ellies:

Located in the heart of the village, below the quad lift this is an excellent spot for lunch on the go! They’ve got the online ordering system perfected. Easy to order breakfast and lunch options online and pick up curbside in front of the shop. We enjoyed soup and sandwiches for lunch here and it was so convenient to grab and go and enjoy back at our condo.

Alice & Lulu’s:

Calling all cheese 🧀 lovers!! The Alpine Raclette experience at Alice & Lulu’s is a must do! Raclette is a cheese from Switzerland that is melted and poured over vegetables, breads, meats, etc. It is an interactive dining experience heating the veggies & meats on the grill and pouring over the melted cheese after it heats up. Their spot in the heart of Sugarloaf village by the real estate office is absolutely gorgeous! The vibe is warm & cozy with a European flare. Check out their cheese boards both for dine in and to-go! We can’t wait to check them out for brunch next.
