Summer 2021 Bucket List

Summer in Vacationland is here and we have been enjoying the sun, sand, and surf this year! With many friends and family visiting us from out of state, we have had a full line up of Summer in Maine activities.

What are you favorite things to do during summertime in Maine?

  • Visit Acadia National Park (Mt. Desert Island)

    • We absolutely love visiting downeast Maine in the summertime to hike in the park, enjoy a few lobster rolls and explore the Bar Harbor/Mt Desert Island/Southwest Harbor areas. Check out our Acadia trip ideas blog post here.

  • Brunch at Crown Jewel (Great Diamond Island)

    • This island escape brings all the fun summertime vibes! The décor is insta-worthy from every corner and the menu is full of creative small plates with a seafood focus plus let’s not forget about the tropical cocktails. Take a water taxi or a Casco Bay Lines ferry from Commercial Street and escape to the island this summer!

  • Portland Sea Dogs game (Portland)

    • Summertime in Maine is synonymous with a baseball game in our book! We love grabbing tickets to a game at Hadlock Field with a beer and hot dog in hand. As the feeder team to the Boston Red Sox, we love getting to watch the next rising stars.

  • Dinner at The Well @ Jordan’s Farm (Cape Elizabeth)

    • Dinner at this seasonal farm to table restaurant on a working farm in Cape Elizabeth is high on our bucket list for this year. Reservations are tough to come by, with the calendar opening the previous year. Keep an eye on available slots!

  • Bite into Maine @ Portland Head Lighthouse (Cape Elizabeth)

    • One of our very favorite lobster rolls is from Bite into Maine. For that #onlyinmaine moment, we love enjoying a picnic at Portland Head Lighthouse. While there are multiple Bite into Maine locations, their food truck at Fort Williams is our top pick. As one of our very favorite spots in Maine, we love looking out over the ocean, breathing in the salt air, and enjoying a summer Friday afternoon with a lobster roll in hand at the most photographed lighthouse.

  • Wine Wise Sail (Old Port)

    • We are big fans of all things Wine Wise! Whether its their annual Wine Week celebrations each June, food and wine tasting walking tours in Portland or wine wise sails on the water, all experiences are sure to please. We are excited to take to the waters of Casco Bay this summer with a glass of wine (or two!) in hand!

  • Dinner at Aragosta @ Goose Cove (Deer Isle)

    • Meaning “lobster’ in Italian, Aragosta brings farm to table magic to downeast Maine. We are very excited to visit this summer and enjoy dinner along with a weekend stay. In addition to the restaurant, Aragosta offers a few cottages and suites that we are excited to check out.

  • Glidden Point Oysters (Edgecomb)

    • We are hoping this is the summer we finally perfect our oyster shucking abilities! At Glidden Point, you can reserve an oyster farm tour in advance as well as reservations for lunch following your tour at their cute oyster shop.

  • CSA with Black Kettle Farm (Lyman w/ weekly pickups in Portland)

    • There is nothing better than cooking with fresh produce and how can we get any fresher than straight from a local farm? We are signed up for our first CSA year with Black Kettle Farm, doing our weekly pickups at the Eastern Prom. Very excited to share our weekly treats with all of you!

  • Lucky Catch Cruise (Old Port, Portland)

    • We love getting out on Casco Bay and what better way to show your visitors a real Maine experience, then aboard a lobster boat. Try your hand at hauling traps for some wicked fun on the water. We love the tour that passes by Portland Head Light! Following the tour, we love purchasing any caught lobsters which Portland Lobster Co will cook up for a fun post tour lunch!
